Kids
The children of the 21st century access books in a variety of ways. Online and E Books are becoming the norm in schools and in homes. Computers, I-Phones, I-Pads, Kindles and E-readers are everywhere. “The challenge to publishers, booksellers and parents is to ensure electronic children’s book apps do not eliminate the beautiful book object but that they work together to nurture a young reader’s appreciation of literature,’’ Corrie wrote in her Weekly Review column last December.
Each week dozens of babies, toddlers, kids and younger teens come into the shop with their parents to choose a book. Their enthusiasm for books reminds us that bookworms of all ages can’t resist a pretty cover, an enticing title, a synopsis on the book jacket that lures them on to turning the pages. Godparents, aunts, nannas and grandfathers, also, like to buy a book “for when the kids come over, we’ve got something to read together’’. Welcome to our Kids section where you will find our reviews of books we reckon the little readers in your life will love – and you will love reading to them.
